Your laptop can suffer the same software problems & virus infestations as any desktop and of course we can help with all those. But there's some problems that laptop users find hard to get fixed. Of course we can help, we're Sefton Computer Repairs and helping is what we do.

Dim Screen? This is probably a failed inverter that powers the light behind the screen. Subject to parts availibility, we can fix it.

Broken Screen? All too easily done and probably the single most expensive part of a laptop but we can source & fit replacement screens so don't despair just yet. We operate a fixed fee mail-order replacement service for cracked & damaged screens here.

Replacement Power Sockets. Older laptops often suffer damage around the power socket through wear & tear. If your laptop sometimes fails to charge or you need to waggle the socket then we may be able to help. Although the manufacturer will say a new - and very expensive - motherboard is required, we can replace and rework the soldering. It's not easy but we're successful in 9 times out of 10. We'll even do it on a no fix, no fee basis. (If your laptop is under warranty or insurance cover then that should be your first call. Socket repairs are a worthwhile option on otherwise irreperable laptops but are carried out at your own risk since there may be underlying motherboard damage making the system beyond economic repair). Power socket replacements, assuming no other damage, are carried out for £95.

Laptop parts are more expensive than for a desktop PC but we always try to keep the price down - we can often source used parts (screens for example) if you don't want to spend a fortune bringing an old laptop back to life.
